HOW TO change the band of your bracelet on your own

Heute möchte ich euch eine Möglichkeit zeigen die Bänder von eurem Armband selbst zu tauschen. Wie das geht erkläre ich euch hier:

WAS benötigt man dazu? | WHAT do you need?

Material | material

• geflochtenes Nylonband
• Quetschperlen (z.B. aus 925 Silber oder 14kt rosevergoldet)
• Perlen (z.B. aus 925 Silber oder 14kt rosevergoldet – optional sofern ihr keinen Verschluss für das Armband habt)

• a braided nylon strap
• crimp beads (e.g. in 925 silver or 14kt rosegold plated)
• beads (e.g. in 925 silver or 14kt rosegold plated – optional if you do not have any clasp)

Werkzeug | tools

• Schere
• Schmuckzange
• Feuerzeug

• scissors
• jewelry pliers
• lighter

Material | material

Als Band empfehle ich euch einen nicht gewachsten geflochtenen Nylonfaden. Diesen findet ihr in vielen unterschiedlichen Farben z.B. bei www.perlesandco.com. Die Stärke des Bandes ist abhängig von eurem Anhänger. Ich empfehle 0,5 oder 0,8mm starke Bänder.

For the band you can use a not waxed nylon strap. You can find that in different colors e.g. on www.perlesandco.com. The strength of the band depends on your pendant. I recommend 0.5 or 0.8mm.

Da ich Schmuck in 925 Silber und rosegold trage bestelle ich meistens meine Quetschperlen bei den ersten beiden Onlineshops.

Es gibt verschiedene Arten von Quetschperlen: Es gibt längliche und runde Quetschperlen in verschiedenen Größen. Ich verwende für den Abschluss eines Bandes die länglichen Quetschperlen. Wenn man aber die Quetschperle als Verschluss verwenden möchte, dann sollte man die runden Quetschperlen verwenden. Bei den länglichen Quetschperlen empfehle ich die 2 oder 3mm großen Quetschperlen zu nehmen, da diese einfach schön aussehen und auch öfters verwendet werden können. Die runden Quetschperlen können meistens nur einmal verwendet werden. Bei den runden Quetschperlen ist die Größe abhängig von der Stärke des Bandes.

There are different species of crimp beads on the market: You can buy elongated and round crimp beads in different sizes. I use for the ending of the band the elongated crimp beads. If you do want to use the crimp bead as clasp, then you should use the round crimp beads. I recommend at the elongated crimp beads the use of the 2 or 3mm crimp beads, because they look nice and tou can use them more often. The size of the round crimp beads depends on the strength of your band.

Werkzeug | tools

Ihr könnt jede Schere nehmen, die ihr zu Hause habt. Ich verwende am Liebsten eine Nagelschere, da diese gut schneidet und klein ist. Beim Feuerzeug gilt das gleiche wie bei der Schere, nehmt einfach das was ihr zu Hause habt – hier gibt es keine speziellen Anforderungen. Als Schmuckzange verwende ich eine Spitzzange. Ihr benötigt sie für die Quetschperlen. Wichtig ist, dass die Innenseite nicht geriffelt ist und dass die Zange innen breit ist damit man auch Quetschperlen zusammendrücken kann.

Sobald ihr das notwendige Material und Werkzeug zusammen habt könnt ihr starten.

You can use any scissor you have at home. I use a nail scissor because it cuts very good and it is very small. The same goes for the lighter – you can use any you have at home – there are no special requirements for it. I use a needle nose pliers. You need it for the crimp beads. Very important is, that the pliers is on the inside smooth – it should not be fluted. The needle nowe pliers should be as thick that you can crumple the crimp beads.

Armband mit Verschluss | bracelet with clasp

Wenn ihr ein Armband mit Verschluss habt, dann müsst ihr folgendes tun:

Band in der richtigen Länge abschneiden und mit dem Feuerzeug kurz abbrennen. Wichtig ist, dass ihr solange das Band noch heiß ist mit eurem Finger über das Ende des Bandes fährt. Dadurch entsteht ein dünnerer Faden und ihr kommt dann durch fast jeden Anhänger durch.

If your bracelet has a clasp then you have to do this:

Cut the band in the right length and burn it with the lighter.

Fädle den Anhänger und den Verschluss durch das Band. | Thread the pendant and the clasp through the band.

Fädle die andere Seite des Bandes durch den Verschluss. | Thread the other side of the band through the clasp.

Fädle 1 Quetschperle auf jeder Seite auf. | Thread one crimp bead on each side.

Drücke die Quetschperle am Ende des Bandes mit der Spitzzange zusammendrücken. | Press the crimp bead at the end of the band with the needle nose pliers.

Das restliche Band, das bei der Quetschperle herausschaut mit der Schere abschneiden und mit dem Feuerzeug abbrennen. | Cut the rest of the band, which looks out from the crimp bead with the scissor and burn it with the lighter.

Armbänder, die als Verschluss eine Perle verwenden | bracelets, which clasp is a bead

Band in der richtigen Länge abschneiden und mit dem Feuerzeug kurz abbrennen. Wichtig ist, dass ihr solange das Band noch heiß ist mit eurem Finger über das Ende des Bandes fährt. Dadurch entsteht ein dünnerer Faden und ihr kommt dann durch fast jeden Anhänger durch.

Das restliche Band, das bei der Quetschperle herausschaut mit dem Feuerzeug abbrennen. | Thread the other side of the band through the bead. Thread one crimp bead on each side. Press the crimp bead at the end of the band with the needle nose plairs. Cut the rest of the band, which looks out of the crimp bead with the scissor and burn it with the lighter.

Armband ohne Verschluss | bracelet without a clasp

Bei einem Armband ohne Verschluss gibt es zwei Möglichkeiten:

If your bracelet has no clasp then you have two possibilities:

VARIANTE I | VARIATION I

Band in der richtigen Länge abschneiden und mit dem Feuerzeug kurz abbrennen. Wichtig ist, dass ihr solange das Band noch heiß ist mit eurem Finger über das Ende des Bandes fährt. Dadurch entsteht ein dünnerer Faden und ihr kommt dann durch fast jeden Anhänger durch. Anhänger durch das Band fädeln. | Cut the band in the right length and burn it with the lighter.

Eine Schlaufe bilden. | Make a loop.

Eine zweite Schlaufe bilden. | Make a second loop.

Band durch die zwei Schleifen fädeln und zusammenziehen. | Thread the band through the two loops.

Band durch das andere Ende des Anhängers fädeln. | Thread the band through the other side of the pendant.

Genauso wie vorhin 2x eine Schlaufe bilden und durchfädeln. | Make two loops and thread the band through the two loops.

1 Quetschperle auf jeder Seite auffädeln. Mit der Spitzzange die Quetschperle am Ende des Bandes zusammendrücken. Das restliche Band, das bei der Quetschperle herausschaut mit der Schere abschneiden und mit dem Feuerzeug abbrennen. | Thread one crimp bead on each side. Press the crimp bead at the end of the band with the needle nose pliers. Cut the rest of the band, which looks out from the crimp bead and burn it with the lighter.

Genauso wie bei Variante I zweimal eine Schleife bilden und das Band durch die zwei Schleifen durchfädeln. | As well as by the variation I make two loops and thread the band through the two loops.

Auf der anderen Seite des Bandes wieder zwei Schleifen bilden und das Band durch die zwei Schleifen durchfädeln und zusammenziehen. | Make two loops on the other side of the band and thread the Band through the band.

1 Quetschperle auf jeder Seite auffädeln. Mit der Spitzzange die Quetschperle am Ende zusammendrücken.
